"as soon as the first time my foot got submerged, I was just stepping in the water. I was like, I don't give a fuck anymore. it was so pathetic. it was the most pathetic. but it was fun. didn't you have a good time? we've basically seen... we've seen, like, everything."

this was the final album by the nototious american transsexual supergroup known as boyfriend needle. rather than releasing an album of entirely original material, the band lazily compiled several unreleased tracks and demos along with new songs and recycled material from their earlier, more juvenile tenure as "postpostpunk." in haphazardly arranging the past and the present, the inspired and the inane, this album was intended to (somewhat half-assedly) convey thomas page mcbee's conception of "trans time" as a non-linear experience of self-discovery and growth. from the rudimentary kalimba-picking of "canal sex" and the garageband noodling of "epsilon" to the layered sonic heights of "druid hill youth chorus," the album acted as a hall of mirrors. each song was mid-transition, echoing hints of future-feeling whether through childlike or sophisticated structures. some of the songs were old. some of the songs were new. some of the songs had been lost to time. some were hardly songs at all.

was boyfriend needle ever good? did anyone ever care?

it was no matter, as they wouldn't be back to fix things. this was the end of boyfriend needle. these songs tell us where they came from, how they loved, and who they became.
